Queensland driving test wait times by test centre
How long you wait for a practical driving test in Queensland depends a lot on which centre you book at. The table below shows the typical wait at each TMR test centre, how much time an earlier cancellation slot usually saves, and how often cancellations come up.
Every figure comes from cancellations Test Scout has seen on the TMR booking system. None of it is estimated or survey data.
The table covers TMR test centres right across Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Toowoomba, Townsville, Cairns, Rockhampton and Mackay, along with many regional centres. Use the search box to jump straight to the centre you are booking at.

What these columns mean
- Typical wait
- How far ahead the next generally available test date was at that centre, averaged across the moments when a cancellation appeared. That distinction matters. It is not a running average of the centre's waiting list, because we only take a reading when a cancellation happens. Read it as "when a cancellation came up here, the standard wait was usually about this long".
- Trend
- Whether the typical wait in the most recent half of the period is longer or shorter than in the earlier half. We only show a direction when there is enough data on both sides to support one, and when the change is big enough that it is unlikely to be ordinary variation. Otherwise you will see "About the same" or "Not enough data". The two halves cover different times of year, so some movement will be seasonal rather than a lasting change.
- Typical saving
- How much time an earlier cancellation slot brought a test forward by, on average, compared with the normal next available date.
- Cancellations
- How many cancellation slots Test Scout saw at that centre on an average day. Treat this as a floor rather than a total. We only watch a centre while someone is searching it, so the real number is likely higher, and centres that fewer people search will look quieter than they really are.
Things to know about this data
- These are past averages, not live availability. They describe what has usually happened at each centre over the period shown. They are not a prediction, and they do not tell you what is bookable right now.
- This page does not show bookable test slots. It shows summary figures only. To see and book real availability, use the official TMR booking system.
- Test Scout is not affiliated with Queensland Transport and Main Roads or any government agency. TMR sets and controls all booking rules, availability, and eligibility requirements, and those rules can change at any time.
- These are observations, not a complete record. Test Scout only checks a centre while at least one person is searching it, so a centre that few people search gets checked less often and will look like it has fewer cancellations. Read every figure here as "what we saw", not "what happened". Queensland Transport and Main Roads is the only complete source.
- Figures are measured at cancellation time. We take a reading when a cancellation appears, so the wait shown reflects conditions at those moments rather than a running average of the centre's waiting list.
- Wait times change. Demand is seasonal and TMR adjusts examiner capacity, so a centre's typical wait can shift a long way over a few weeks.
- Centres with very little data are left out rather than shown with an unreliable figure. If your centre is not listed, we have not seen enough cancellations there to report anything useful.

Cancellations appear without warning and are often booked by someone else within minutes, which makes them very hard to catch by checking the TMR site yourself.
